We take pride in the strength and diversity of our team. Sabalo's team averages over twenty five years of experience in domestic and international plays. Complementing our multiple basin exploration experience, Sabalo's engineers have extensive experience in each step of field development, including drilling, completion, stimulation, facility construction and gas processing.​
Barry Clark

Barry Clark
PRESIDENT

Barry founded Sabalo Energy in 2014 and serves as the company's President. Under his leadership, Sabalo has drilled and developed assets in the East Texas Woodbine Basin and East Texas Eagle Ford trend.  Sabalo currently operates a large position in the northern Midland Basin. Prior to Sabalo, Barry worked for 16 years at Manti Exploration Operating as a reservoir engineer coordinating field development, acquisitions, prospect evaluations, and reserve estimation.  Barry began his career with Exxon as a reservoir engineer. Barry graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 with degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Geology.​
Robert Helm

Robert Helm
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Robert has served as Sabalo’s CFO since 2014 and is responsible for all finance, accounting, and administrative activities. Prior to Sabalo, Robert was the CFO for Manti Exploration Operating for eleven years and employed by Texaco for twenty one years, where he held numerous management positions including CFO of Texaco's western US operations, CFO Latin America, and Assistant Controller of the International Division. Robert graduated from the University of Houston in 1980 with degrees in Finance and Accounting and an MBA in 1984.​
Mike Dignam

EVP - CORP. DEVELOPMENT

Mike joined Sabalo in 2016 and is in charge of finance, corporate planning, business development, and marketing. Prior to Sabalo, Mike spent three years on the investment staff at EnCap Investments, supporting a wide range of management teams and oil and gas strategies throughout the major North American oil and gas basins. Prior to EnCap, Mike spent three years working in the Energy Investment Banking Group at Raymond James & Associates focusing on public capital raises and M&A advisory work within the energy industry. Mike graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2010 with degrees in Economics and Spanish.​
Tom Medary

VP GEOLOGY

Tom has thirty two years of experience exploring for and developing oil and gas fields. At Sabalo, Tom has developed drilling opportunities in the Woodbine Basin and the Eagle Ford trend of East Texas and is currently mapping in the Midland Basin of West Texas.  Prior to serving as Sabalo’s VP Geology, Tom spent seventeen years at Manti on a variety of projects from Louisiana Salt Domes to Pinnacle Reefs of the Michigan Basin and eleven years with Chevron and Pennzoil exploring and developing oil and gas fields in offshore Gulf of Mexico. Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from Duke University in 1984 and his Master of Science in Geology from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1986.
Philip Bell

VP LAND

Prior to joining Sabalo Energy as Land Manager in 2014, Philip held Land Manager positions at Manti Exploration Operating, Genesis Producing and Sexton Oil & Minerals.  Philip’s early career began at the Railroad Commission of Texas. Philip has twice been a member of the Texas General Land Office Blue Ribbon Committee, which was formed to advise terms and conditions now used by the State of Texas for its oil and gas leases. Philip earned his degree from The University of Texas.
Wayne Psencik

Wayne Psencik

VP DRILLING & OPERATIONS

Wayne has 32 years of drilling and completions experience with a primary focus on horizontal and highly deviated wells. Wayne joined Sabalo in 2014 and leads the company’s active 2 rig drilling program.  Prior to Sabalo, Wayne was a Drilling Manager for Manti Exploration Operating, El Paso Production Company and Chesapeake.  Wayne has engineered, supervised and drilled wells in the Permian Basin, Austin Chalk/Eagle Ford, inland  gulf coastal waters and offshore Gulf of Mexico during his career. Wayne earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1986.

David Hurd

VP - RESERVOIR ENGINEERING

​David joined Sabalo in February 2021. Prior to joining Sabalo, David spent six years in various operational and reservoir engineering roles with Concho Resources in Midland, Texas. He worked a variety of assets in the Midland Basin, Delaware Basin, and Northwest Shelf regions of the Permian Basin. David earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2015 and an MBA from Louisiana Tech University in 2021.
