Complementing our multiple basin exploration experience, Sabalo's engineers have extensive experience in each step of field development, including drilling, completion, stimulation, facility construction, and gas processing.
Barry Clark, President
Prior to forming Sabalo Energy, Barry spent 16 years with Manti as a reservoir engineer, COO, and then President. Before joining Manti he spent 11 years at Exxon as a reservoir engineer and a supervisor of various reservoir development groups. His specialties include field development, acquisitions, prospect evaluations, and reserve estimation. Barry's primary experience has been in the Texas Gulf Coast, East Texas, and Louisiana areas. Barry graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 with degrees in petroleum engineering and geology.
Robert Helm, Chief Financial Officer
Robert Helm graduated from the University of Houston in 1980 with degrees in finance and accounting and an MBA in 1984. Prior to joining Manti in 2003, Robert was employed by Texaco for 21 years where he held numerous management positions including CFO of Texaco's western US operations, CFO Latin America, and Asst. Controller International Division. At Sabalo, Robert is responsible for the finance, accounting, and administrative activities for Sabalo.
Tom Medary, VP Geoscience
Tom graduated from Duke University in 1984 and the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1986 with his Bachelor of Science and Master degrees in geology. Tom worked 11 years with Chevron USA and Penzoil exploring for and developing oil and gas fields in the offshore Gulf of Mexico. Tom worked 17 years at Manti on a variety of projects from South Louisiana salt domes to pinnacle reefs of the Michigan Basin with an emphasis on exploitation and exploration along the Gulf coast. At Sabalo, Tom will continue his focus of identifying new drilling opportunities.
Wayne A. Psencik, VP Drilling
Wayne Psencik has 25 years of engineering and operational experience in drilling and completions with a primary focus on horizontal and highly deviated wells. He was the Drilling and Completions Manager at Manti Exploration Operating from 2011-2013, and supervised the drilling and completions of over 25 operated wells in that time. From 2005-2010, he held engineering and management positions for a small operating company in San Antonio that operated wells in the inland waters of Texas and on land. Prior to this, he was the Drilling Manager for El Paso Production Company and supervised a staff of engineers drilling deep shelf, extended reach and highly deviated wells in both the Gulf of Mexico and inland waters of Louisiana and Texas. From 1994-1999, Wayne worked for Chesapeake Energy Corporation as a drilling engineer and then in 1996 became a Drilling Manager. While at Chesapeake, he was responsible for the drilling of over 150 horizontal wells in Texas and Louisiana and 4 deep Tuscaloosa wells. Wayne earned his Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University in 1986.
CHIP ROSSITER, VP OPERATIONS
Prior to joining Sabalo Energy in 2014, Chip gained 19 years of oil and gas experience in the Gulf Coast and Southern United States. He served as the South Region's Production Engineering Manager at Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation where he managed a staff of production engineers and tech. His team was responsible for all operations post-rig move (completions, facility construction, and production engineering) and planning (capital budget and lease operating expense). While at Cabot, Chip and his staff were responsible for the successful transition from conventional plays to unconventional plays, such as East Texas' "Cotton Valley" program, "James Lime" program, and "Haynesville" program; Mid-continent's "Marmaton" program; and South Texas' "Eagleford" program. At BJ Services Company, USA, Chip served in several engineering and management roles and was the Region Technical Manager for the South Texas Region, where he was charged with expanding the customer base and improving the region's technical capabilities and brand image. He also spent some time as a Technical Consultant for Ely & Associates. Chip graduated in 1995 from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.
Philip Bell, VP LAND
Following graduation from the University of Texas, Philip was employed by the Railroad Commission of Texas and later employed as Land Manager at Sexton Oil and Minerals until 1991 and Genesis Producing company until 2012. Responsibilities included leasing, drilling, and exploration efforts in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi which involved overseeing leasing in excess of 125,000 trend acres and various drilling program/partnerships, including a 25-well Yegua/Cook Mountain Drilling Program in Liberty County, Texas. Philip has twice been a member of the Texas General Land Office Blue Ribbon Committee which was formed to advise terms and conditions now used by the the State of Texas for its Oil and Gas Leases.
MIKE DIGNAM, VP FINANCE & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Prior to joining Sabalo Energy, Mike spent three years on the investment staff at EnCap Investments, a leading private equity fund focused exclusively on investments in the oil and gas industry. There, Mike supported a wide range of management teams and oil and gas strategies throughout all the major U.S. oil and gas basins, in addition to Mexico. Before joining EnCap in July 2013, Mike spent three years working in the Energy Investment Banking Group at Raymond James & Associates. While at Raymond James, Mike primarily focused on public capital raises and M&A advisory work within the upstream, midstream, and oilfield service sectors of the energy industry. Mike graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2010 with degrees in Economics and Spanish.
